JOB ANNOUCEMENT
SPECIAL POPULATIONS MEDICAL DIRECTOR
MNHC has developed two highly regarded and creative programs to meet the needs of special populations such as HIV positive and homeless clients. Clínica Esperanza provides care for HIV positive patients and the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center homeless clinic provides care for the homeless patients in the 16th street corridor. Both programs are multidisciplinary, innovative, employ principles of harm reduction, and encourage the engagement of our patients and staff.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Special Populations Medical Director will be responsible for the medical vision and direction of the HIV and Homeless clinics, the review of medical Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement, the development of the health care plan, of new policies and procedures, the proper integration of medical care in the multidisciplinary model, the representation of the medical component of the clinic in regional and national venues.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Special Populations Medical Director reports directly to the Medical Director and works closely and collaboratively with the Director of HIV Services and the Director of Mission Neighborhood Resource Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides ambulatory, acute, and preventive medical services to HIV-positive patients, homeless patients, and adult medicine patients.
- Provides continuity of care for hospitalized and referred patients according to health center protocols.
- Supervises the provision of medical services to patients with HIV and homeless patients.
- Stays current with clinical practices guidelines for HIV disease and homeless patients and implements those guidelines as appropriate
- Ensures that HIV Clinic patients have access to new treatments including Clinical Trials and expanded access programs.

ADMINISTRATIVE/ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
- Ensures that services provided through the various departments are culturally competent and responsive to the needs of the populations served in accordance with the mission of MNHC.
- Evaluates designated medical providers as required by personnel policies.
- Determines the medical vision of the HIV and homeless clinics given an assessment of medical need and resources.
- Along with the HIV Clinic Manager and Homeless Clinic Manager participates in the development of the overall MNHC Health Care Plan as it relates to HIV disease and Homeless.
- Provides clinical supervision and direction as needed to the Treatment Advocate/Health Educator, and Dietician.
- Participates in HIV Services Management Team and weekly team meetings.
- Works collaboratively with the HIV Services Director and MNRC Director in various administrative projects such as grant reporting, staff training plans, program evaluation, and hiring.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current California state physician and surgeon's license.
- Board certified/eligible or residency trained in Family Practice/Internal Medicine/Adult Primary Care/Infectious Disease
- Minimum 2 years experience in treating HIV or certification by the AAHIV Medicine
- Minimum 2 years experience supervising a multidisciplinary team preferred
- Medical fluency in Spanish required.
- Ability to work professionally and ethically within multi-cultural settings, including ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data, and communications.
- Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, homelessness and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues.
